An update on our budget and funding priorities for 2025

To help organisations interested in applying for funding, we’re sharing more details on our approach to funding under our 2030 strategy, as well as our overall grants budget for the year.

Since we launched our 2030 strategy in 2024, we’ve seen a huge level of demand. At the same time, the amount of money we have available to give out has reduced.

This means we'll have to make tough decisions and say no to a lot more fantastic projects than we’d like to. And it even means having to choose between projects that fit all of our criteria.

In this context, we’re being even more strategic about our funding. We’re focused on resourcing organisations properly, so that they're able to make a real impact, which means providing grants to a smaller number of organisations than in previous years.

In 2025, we have an overall grants budget of £10.2 million for organisations fighting for a fairer London.

This funding will be distributed across our seven priority areas under our 2030 strategy:

  • Tackling the housing crisis
  • Improving social security
  • Decent work
  • Ending the poverty premium
  • Ending migrant destitution
  • Racial justice
  • Disability justice (closed until 2026)

Updating our application guidance

In some of these areas we’re seeing especially high demand. Our tackling the housing priority is already oversubscribed with potential projects.

We know that this is a difficult time for many civil society organisations. It’s important to us that you don’t waste valuable time putting an application into us, if that effort could be better used elsewhere.

So, we’ve been updating our website and guidelines to be as clear and specific as possible about what we'll fund - especially around advice funding (see below).

While we’re remaining open for applications and our grant managers are available for calls, we recommend potential applicants read our guidance very carefully to ensure they’re a fit before reaching out.

Funding advice services

To make sure we have the most impact possible, we regularly review where we focus our funding.

This year we’re giving extra thought to the advice work we fund, and we’ve updated the guidelines on how we award advice funding for each of our priority areas.

This kind of advice work we'll fund within each priority area is slightly different, but generally we'll be looking to fund services that:

  • Are specialist, established and with proven outcomes
  • Connect casework and policy work
  • Serve multiple communities

Visit the webpages for each priority area using the links below for full details on how we approach funding.

How to apply

If you’re interested in applying for funding, read our priority area webpages carefully to see if you’re a good fit.
