Statement in response to Grenfell Tower fire

Author: Bharat Mehta, Advisor, Trust for London

In response to the Grenfell Tower fire on Wednesday 14 June 2017, Bharat Mehta CBE, Chief Executive of Trust for London, said:

“The thoughts of everyone at Trust for London are with the victims and their families of the awful tragedy of the Grenfell Tower fire in Kensington and Chelsea. We welcome the government’s decision to enact a full public inquiry into the incident. In the short-term, we are looking at how we can use our resources to provide support to local organisations who are supporting the victims of this tragic incident. Longer-term, we are investigating ways in which we can fund work that seeks to establish and tackle the root causes of the fire."
