The challenge

Migrant families in Lambeth and Southwark are often pushed into destitution by insecure immigration status, language barriers, and a lack of trust in official systems. Many are families navigating a complex asylum process or recovering from trafficking and trauma.

The project

We’re funding a partnership between South London Refugee Association (SLRA), Citizens UK, and Southwark Law Centre to embed immigration advice directly into community settings. Across four community spaces, the project provides tailored legal support to help migrant Londoners avoid crisis and move out of destitution.

Alongside casework, the project is building long-term change by supporting parents with lived experience to become leaders, advocate for their communities, and push for policy reform — including an end to No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF).
