The challenge
London is in a deep housing crisis, with many residents at risk of homelessness or living in insecure, poor-quality housing. Too often, people are unaware of their legal rights or where to seek support. Many community organisations try to help, but without specialised legal knowledge, their impact can be limited.
The project
Advicenow specialises in making law accessible to community groups. Our funding supports a public legal education programme designed to empower people with knowledge about their housing rights.
This includes training courses and workshops focusing on legal skills, as well as reliable online information resources for community organisations. These courses and information resources will help organisations support individuals more effectively, while also equipping individuals with the knowledge, confidence and skills to advocate for themselves.
By improving the quality of housing advice available, the programme will enable more Londoners to understand and exercise their rights.
