Good Food Local: The London report 2025

What's this?

For the last 13 years, Sustain UK's Good Food Local London report has tracked council action on food poverty.

Through a survey, completed by 30 London councils, the interactive report shines a light on which councils are leading the way on food insecurity and provides recommendations for action. It also finds that more councils in the city are supporting food partnerships to tackle local and complex, cross-sector food issues.

Explore the report's league tables, good food maps, case studies and recommendations.

Why does it matter?

  • 24% of Londoners are in poverty - more than two million people
  • 454,750 emergency food parcels were distributed by Trussell Trust food banks in London in 2023/20243
  • 2.3 million tonnes of food is wasted every year across London’s food supply chain, with a cash value of more than £2.5 billion
