The challenge
Almost 1 in 4 pensioners in London (22%) live in poverty. This is also the only age group which has seen poverty increase, rather than decrease, in the last decade.
Existing support like Pension Credit can help to lift pensioners out of poverty, but many people don’t know that this support exists. Up to 40% of eligible Londoners don’t claim this benefit.
The project
The Greater London Forum for Older People (GLF) is the only pan-London, democratic organisation run by older people themselves. It works across 22 boroughs to ensure that all older Londoners have a good quality of life.
We’re funding the team to develop their skills and identify opportunities to begin working for long-term change.
This includes building evidence from a diverse range of older Londoners about what needs to change and, ultimately, building a campaign for sustainable long-term change and impact in how older Londoners access benefits and support.
