We're seeking Expressions of Interest from civil society organisations for a secondment into the Mayor of London's Migration Team, as part of the Citizenship & Integration Initiative.
Since 2017, the CII has supported 15 secondees from 12 organisations. We are now seeking new secondees into the GLA’s Migration team to develop work on no recourse to public funds in London.
We are initially inviting expressions of interest from organisations working on no recourse to public funds.
We will then invite shortlisted organisations to submit a full application to second a member of staff into the GLA for up to two years.
The Role
We're seeking expressions of interest from civil society organisations for two secondees to join the Mayor's Migration Team. The secondees will help develop London-focused work on no recourse to public funds.
We're interested in a wide range of skills from policy, advocacy and influencing to case work and frontline grassroots support and will look to match secondees with complementary experience. We would welcome secondments from people with lived experience of migration themselves.
The potential secondee that you put forward will need to demonstrate knowledge of the policy agenda and the ability to perform at the level required.
The secondee job title is Citizenship and Integration Adviser.
What is the Citizenship & Integration Initiative?
The Citizenship & Integration Initiative (CII) is a partnership between Trust for London, Unbound Philanthropy, the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, City Bridge Trust, the Pears Foundation, and the Greater London Authority, founded in 2016.
The CII bridges the gap between civil society and decision-makers by placing staff from civil society organisations into secondments within the GLA. This allows government to benefit from the experience and insight of people embedded in communities, while giving secondees a deeper understanding of how policy is made that they can bring back to their organisations.
You can find out more about the initiative and its achievements here.
Why take part in the Citizenship & Integration Initiative?
Civil society organisations have deep expertise, but often aren't part of the decisions that affect the communities they serve. At the same time, decision-makers can struggle to access the direct, lived experiences of Londoners affected by their decisions.
A secondment model like CII can help bridge this gap - bringing civil society voices into the heart of government. At its best, it creates a partnership where both sectors are stronger, more informed and better connected.
